i have given the (pre)painting a second in-between varnish layer, with which it honestly looks really ugly (stripy and weird). i do follow the vaneyck recipes, or rather, recipes based on recent research on Het Lam Gods, on what pigments they have found in the different layers. in many phases they have found radicals of lead pigments, what he could have used in order to accelerate the drying process. i also do this. i only have, like while i'm cooking, some difficulties to hold me tight to the recipes (no sense to go to the store to fetch four seasons pepper so then but equally ras-el-hanout). we'll see where the ship 'll ground - or

need to take some distance from the vaneyck hassle for a while,
study of Chinese pajamas (just newly started) with pencil and silverpoint..
F. came along and could not believe that i wanted to paint these pajamas, so boring! (she does not like still lifes, at least not to paint them herself). But i fear  i see many things that others do not; the light reflection, and those marvelous lines ...
